7QT: Birthday Weekend Edition!

Go read Jen’s post this week!                            http://www.conversiondiary.com

Yes, you read the title right. It’s my birthday weekend. (As in, my birthday is tomorrow). And I’m going to be one lucky gal, who gets to spend the weekend having fun with her sister and brother-in-law a few towns west of here. That is, presuming I can get there…..

It’s Winter in Upstate. Which means snow, in large quantities, plus some really nice cold winds. That hasn’t change since the last time I talked about winter in Upstate… except Storm Nemo is supposed to hit (with its biggest force) while I’m driving westward today. Wheeeee.

Also, I can’t be the only one picturing a
Can I?

flowersYeah… I got these yesterday. Early-birthday-early-Valentine’s-day flowers. Notice the place of prominence they’ve received — right next to my coffeepot! I’m a lucky gal.

I started my high school practicum this week. It’s fantastic, even if time consuming. I’m working on some long-term, research-this-and-analyze projects that I’m finding fun (because #librarian). It’s the type of research that’s highly beneficial as I think about graduating and trying to find a job in my own library.

I read 3 books this week. Yeah. Not sure where I found that time. A dystopian YA fiction, Scored. Finally read The Mighty Miss Malone by Christopher Paul Curtis. And… I read something else that apparently was SO good I can’t remember. Alas. I have also picked up “Feed”, which I’ve meant to read multiple times but haven’t, so that I can booktalk it next Wednesday. So I’m on a deadline with that one!

I have a massive exam for my state certification on the 16th, called the CST. I’m trying to cram in knowledge for it, because it’s an antiquated exam so… it tests us on things people learned 10 or 20 years ago that aren’t at all relevant to our jobs and positions now. Wheeee. This means I’m reading a book called “Information Power!” for fun this weekend. Copyright: 1998. Fortunately my host librarian had a copy and lent it to me!

Like I said, I’m outta here for the weekend. I spent my weeknights making sure I was 90%+ done with a project/assignment that’s due for one of my grad classes by Sunday night. So… since I accomplished that… weekend of fun and relaxation are all mine! Have a fabulous one, folks. 🙂

  1. Have a happy birthday!!
I LOVE dystopian novels. I’ve met few that I didn’t like, and I blame it more on poor writing ability. I haven’t read Feed yet, but it’s on my list.

      • I have seriously been thinking about this all week. My first thought was “Ender’s Game” but that is definitely Sci-Fi and I don’t think I would classify it as dystopian, though it was definitely my gateway book, if that makes sense. I did fall in LOVE with the Divergent series.

  2. Pretty nice post. I just stumbled upon your
blog and wanted to say that I’ve truly enjoyed browsing your blog posts. In any case I will be subscribing to your rss feed and I hope you write again soon!
